Married to his lovely wife Cindy since 1983, Dr. Bruce Carroll graduated from Southwestern Medical School in Dallas in 1987. He has been in practice in St Marys since 1990. He and his wife have four children and seven grandchildren (and counting!). Dr. Carrol enjoys the full spectrum of family medicine in a small town and has enjoyed knowing and taking care of multiple generations of many, many families over the past 30 years. He delivered just under 1,000 babies before retiring from that duty in 2012. When not in the clinic, he can often be found at CrossFit Benedictus, where he is a Level 2 coach; he also enjoys cycling as part of his fitness program. Not surprisingly, sports medicine and lifestyle medicine are parts of family medicine that have special appeal to Dr Carroll. He puts fitness into practical application with his first real passion: hiking and climbing, especially in Colorado. -

Matthew Ridder, APRN, holds a master of science degree in nursing from Wichita State University. His chief areas of clinical interest are family medicine and emergency room care. Ridder comes from a family of nurses and healthcare providers. His mother and her four sisters are nurses, and he has a brother and a sister who are also nurses. “Medicine is a profession that allows me to continually learn and grow,” Ridder says. He loves getting to know his patients and serving the community of St. Marys. He wants patients to know that the best way to take care of your family is to take care of yourself by eating healthy foods, getting enough sleep, exercising regularly, and avoiding drugs and alcohol. He also recommends managing stress and getting regular medical checkups. Ridder traveled extensively as a civilian and with the military--he retired as a Navy Captain in June 2019, served as an ICU nurse in the Army, and served in the Army Reserve for 10 years--but his roots are in Kansas.
